Care Instructions

How to care for your jewelry

Jewelry should be the last thing you put on before you leave and the first thing you take off when you come home.

Caring for your jewelry requires a specific approach depending on the piece, but here are some general tips:

  1. Always remove your jewelry before exercising, cleaning, showering and swimming. Some crystals can become damaged if submerged in water. Solid gold, gold filled and argentium silver tolerate water immersion, while most other metals are not suitable for such activities and will tarnish.
  2. Apply perfumes, creams and hair care products before putting on your jewelry.
  3. Store in a dark, dry, airtight container when not in use- a jewelry box or tray will do.
  4.
  5. Make sure the item is completely dry before using the polishing cloth to avoid getting the polishing cloth wet otherwise it will become sticky and unusable.

Brass

Brass doesn’t like moisture! It will eventually tarnish, turning from its deep gold hue to an aged brown patina.

  • Avoid this by wearing your rings often. The natural oils from your skin will keep the ring looking like new.
  • Store in a dry, airtight container when not in use, or use an anti-tarnish bag.
  • Allow to dry after washing hands and wear protective gloves or remove rings when cleaning with harsh chemicals.

Gold Filled Jewelry

Gold filled jewelry is high quality and resistant to wear, so cleaning and storing is relatively simple.
Simply buff gently with a soft, dry cloth or clean with warm water and a drop of dish soap for a deeper clean.
The more you wear it, the better it looks and the more comfortable it will fit.

Avoid polishing your gold filled jewelry with harsh abrasives or chemicals, as this will cause the gold layer to wear away.

Wire Wrapped Jewelry

Wire wrapped pieces are made from many pieces or metal wires in a variety of gauges and often have delicate parts that require special care.

Do not drop, bend, untwist or try to take out the stones.
When the jewelry becomes dull and develops a patina, gently rub the piece with the polishing cloth that was included with your purchase. Be very gentle when rubbing your wire wrapped jewelry as the wire used for details is very delicate and can snap if treated roughly.
