Gold Filled
Gold plating is widely used due to its affordability, it’s base metal can be silver (vermeil) brass or copper, but the gold will eventually rub off if you wear it often. Gold filled is a great alternative if you want the luxury and longevity of solid gold without the hefty price-tag. It has a much thicker layer than gold plated jewelry that is bonded to a base of high quality brass, making it more durable and resistant to wear. If taken care of, it can last as long as solid gold and it won’t rub off or tarnish. This makes it not only economical, but also a more sustainable option (in my opinion) since you can wear it for years to come and it won’t end up sitting unworn in your jewelry box or worse- in a landfill.
