Argentium(935) is an ethically sourced, hypoallergenic silver alloy created by Peter Johns at the Art and Design Research Institute in London, England in the 1990’s. Argentium is composed of 93.5% silver, about 5.5% copper, and about 1% germanium, as opposed to Sterling Silver which is 92.5% silver and 7% copper. By replacing some of the copper with Geranium, the result is a metal that has many properties that make it a great for jewelry, such as increased fire stain resistance, higher melting point, improved durability and slower tarnish meaning it doesn’t need to be cleaned as often as Sterling and will keep its brightness and shine for longer.
We use Argentium for our silver handmade cuff rings, pendants, earrings and custom headpieces.
